WVS webinar on June 17. The Role of Data and Insights on Public Values and Attitudes in International Policymaking

How can data on public values and attitudes inform policymaking in an increasingly complex and contested world?

Registration: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/J7Y5K5suSQe-EhwEo0b1Mw

Drawing on evidence from the World Values Survey and the findings of a Policy Lab convened at King’s College London, this webinar explores the role that public values and attitudes can play in shaping policy decisions, policy communication, and international cooperation. The presentation examines long-term trends in social, political, and cultural values across countries and discusses how these trends relate to key policy domains, including migration, trade, security, democratic governance, and public trust in institutions.

The speakers will present evidence on major global value shifts over the past four decades, including growing social liberalism in many societies, changing patterns of support for democracy and political institutions, and cross-national differences in value orientations. The webinar will also discuss how policymakers can use data on public values and attitudes to better understand public preferences, communicate policy decisions, anticipate areas of societal tension, and strengthen evidence-based policymaking.

The session will further reflect on the opportunities and challenges of integrating values and attitudes research into policy processes, drawing on insights from policymakers, academics, and practitioners engaged in international policymaking.

This webinar will be of interest to researchers, policymakers, survey practitioners, and anyone interested in the intersection of public opinion, values, and public policy.
